RESPONSIBILITIES COMMON TO THE POSITION:
Management responsibilities for the Technical Operations Division which include; employee development, budget development, and supervision of division functions such as; material orders, data entry, and physical processing of library materials.
TYPICAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

Employee Development: Recruit, train, and manage employees within the division. Review employee performance and approve salary increases. Interpret policy and procedures; address disciplinary issues.

Budget Development: Prepare annual budget for division; determine needs related to personnel, equipment, and supplies. Monitor division’s expenditures.

Administrative Duties: Resolve unusual problems related to material orders. Process weekly invoices. Prepare monthly statistical reports and special reports for management. Maintain division’s supplies and equipment.
DIRECTION RECEIVED:
Reports to Deputy Director, supervision received is essentially administrative, with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge of the function and purpose of a public library.

Experienced PC user. Knowledge of word processing, database management, spreadsheet software, and vendor supplied software for material orders.

Baccalaureate Degree in related field.

Position may include cataloging if incumbent possesses MLS.

Three (3) years related experience. Supervisory experience preferred.

Under exceptional circumstances, related experience commensurate with the duties and tasks necessary to successfully perform the job may by substituted.
TRANSFER AND PROMOTION:
Incumbents may be promoted by approval of a professional development sequence according to Policy #E032.1. Position reclassifications are subject to Board approval.
