BusinessLaw.gov provides legal and regulatory information for America’s small businesses. The sections of this site are devoted to getting legal help, news, laws and regulations on the federal and state levels, and contacting congress. Other tools on this site include forms, a legal dictionary, business "wizards" to help entrepreneurs understand and use the information provided.

Code of Federal Regulations

The Code of Federal Regulations database's features include a browse and search function, the ability to retrieve by CFR citation, search tips, instructions on how to link to CFR documents, and general information about the CFR.

FindLaw for Small Business

FindLaw presents articles and guides on starting a business, business organizations, business finance, taxes and accounting, debt and bankruptcy, small business legal concerns, employer rights, employee rights, immigration, worker compensation, business operations, intellectual property, and dissolution. There is also a search feature for finding a lawyer, business contracts, a legal dictionary, and cases and codes.

Public Record Finder

The Public Record Finder is a site that indexes sites for Birth, Marriage and Death Records, Business Licenses, Court Records, Property Records, Recorded Documents and more. You begin by selecting a state which is appropriate for the records you are researching. You may be required to pay a fee to retrieve some information.

Databases

The library district subscribes to several online databases that may help you with your research. Those with a "Remote Access" button can be used from your home computer with a valid library card.

For information regarding law and public records, you may want to try LAWCHEK or St. Charles County's Property Assessment Database.

LAWCHEK will allow you to search for forms, legal documents, and help guides. Not all business forms are available on this site, but it is a good online source to check.
